A Hidden Past

Chapter 3.

Disclaimer: I don't own um.

While Sage was busy talking to Katie his 'fan club' started to get jealous that he was giving all his attention to Katie. Glaring at her they talked amongst themselves and exchanged smirks and eye rolling. Katie smirked to herself and sighed, ignoring them she continued to talk to him. Sage seemed to be enjoying himself. Thinking he had her won over his smile became bigger and bigger the more he thought about it. Katie laughed some at what he said and tilted her head from one side to the other.
Sage frowned, "Neck hurt?" he asked with concern.
Katie nodded some. "Yea, it must have been the way I slept last night." She said and rubbed the back of her neck. Sage shook his head as he grinned. "Here, let me help you." He said as he began to rub her shoulders and neck. The other girls glared daggers at Katie and looked like they could kill her. She smirked at them and closed her eyes. Eat your hearts out girls. She thought as she began to relax. "That feels great, Sage, thanks."
Sage smiled and leaned in close to her ear. "You're very welcome. I couldn't let you walk around school in pain now could I?"
Katie chuckled some at his statement and shook her head. She then looked over at Christine who was smiling brightly and could only wonder what was going on inside that head of hers. She thought about going inside her mind seeing what she was thinking, but decided against it. The bell rang and it was time to go back to class. Everyone grabbed their stuff and headed for the doors.
Katie, Sage, and Kento all had the next class together while Christine, Cye, Rowen and Ryo had a class together. Katie walked into the classroom and as usual all eyes were on her. Mostly guys though, some girls looked at her and gave her dirty looks. She rolled her eyes and found her seat next to Sage and Kento. Kento was busy making tweeters while Sage was trying to find his notes.
Katie looked over at Kento and smirked. "You had better have an extra rubber band for me and be giving me half those tweeters."
Kento chuckled and pulled a rubber band from his pants pocket. "Relax, I've got ya covered." He said as he handed her the rubber band.
Katie smiled and took the rubber band. "I knew I could count on ya."
The sensei walked in followed by a boy about 5'9 with brown hair that had blonde streaks. It was kinda short with shaggy bags that seem to hang in his face. The boy's eyes were a light pale green. The sensei turned to the class and waited till everyone was seated and quiet. "Class we have a new student." He said, "Go ahead and introduce yourself."
"My name is Ceto Tensu. It’s a pleasure to meet all of you." He said in a very deep sexy voice. Most of the girls almost fainted when they heard him.
"Well, then you can sit in front of Katie Sanada. Katie will you please raise your hand." Sensei asked.
Katie raised her hand and Ceto looked over at her. He locked eyes with her and Katie got a strange feeling like she had met him before. Ceto walked over to his seat and sat down. Katie blinked and looked over at Sage when he said her name.
"Huh? What ya say, Sage?" Katie asked sounding confused.
"I asked you if you were ok. You looked like you had just seen a ghost." Sage said as he looked concerned.
Katie smiled some. You have no idea, she thought. "Oh, I did? Well, I'm ok." She lied, she just hoped he bought it and didn't pursue the matter further. It worked and he only nodded and turned to pay attention to the sensei.
Ceto smirked to himself. So we meet again my love. I told you we'd meet again. Only this time I hope I'm not to late to protect you from what is already starting.

Christine sat in her seat next to Rowen. She yawned and looked over at him. As usual he was paying close attention to the sensei. She smirked, "How can you find this stuff interesting?"
Rowen looked over at her and shrugged. "Don't know."
Christine laughed some and shook her head. "Well, for once boy genius doesn't know something."
Rowen smirked and turned his head to look at her. "Yea, and it would do you some good to at least know something."
Christine cocked her head to the side and looked at him. "And just what is that supposed to mean?"
Rowen chuckled some and looked back at he sensei who was going on and on about some very boring stuff that he already knew. "Nothing, forget I even said anything."
Christine shook her head as she laughed some. "Whatever," was all she said as she leaned back in her chair.
Cye sat next to Ryo two rows behind Christine and Rowen. He idly tapped his pencil on the desk. He sighed and looked over at the Ronin leader. He had his head rested on his arms on his desk. Cye sighed and poked him with his pencil. He didn't wake up. He smirked and poked him again. Nothing happened again. He sighed and gave up. Then he got an idea.
'Ryo, wake up, it’s Talpa he's back!'
'Ha? Huh no, no way.'
Ryo woke with a start and groggily looked around the room. He then laid eyes on a now chuckling Cye of Torrent. He smirked and stretched. "Very funny, Cye." Ryo said sarcastically.
"Sorry, but it was the only way to get you up." Cye explained.
"Yea, yea whatever." Ryo said.
"Mr. Sanada, Mr. Mouri something going on that you would like to discuss with the class?" The Sensei asked as he looked at the two Ronins, seeming to be annoyed.
"No, ma'am' I mean sir." Ryo said sarcastically. The class thought it was funny and some laughed. The sensei glared at him, but said nothing. "Ok then, now we'll get back to what I was saying..." He said as he continued to drone on.
The bell rang signaling it was time for their next class. They grabbed their things and headed for the door. Finale class of the day. Ryo, Katie and Rowen had the same class together while Cye, Sage, Kento and Christine had a class together. Katie walked into her last class. She spotted Ryo and sat down next to him. Ryo looked over at her and smiled, but his smile faded when he looked at her. She looked tired, out of it and confused. He looked concerned and took the role of 'concerned older brother'.
"What's the matter Kate? Was C.J. bothering you again?" He asked trying to find out what was bothering his little sis.
Katie didn't answer him. She was too busy thinking about where she had seen that guy before. Not paying attention to him or even acknowledging he was there she continued to think. Ryo frowned, something was up. He just knew it. He waved a hand in front of her face. "Katie? Hello, anyone there?"
Katie jumped and looked over at him. "Huh? Wha?" She stammered.
Ryo only frowned more at this. "Katie, is something going on that I don't know about? What's wrong?"
Katie bit her bottom lip in thought. Huh-oh busted, She thought and mentally slapped herself. "No, nothings going on. I'm jus tired and thinking about something."
Ryo didn't look satisfied by her answer, "Thinking about?"
"None of your damn business. Look I'm fine ok so just drop it!" She yelled at him and a few people turned around to look at them. She smirked at them and they turned back around. Ryo held his hands up in defense. "Ok, ok I was just worried. No need to bite my head off." Katie sighed and was about to say something when the Sensei came, late as usual. She decided to tell him later and slid down in her seat, wishing she could just blow this class and go home.

Rowen sat in his seat and for once was completely bored with what the sensei was saying. He yawned and looked over at Katie and Ryo. He was surprised to see they weren't laughing and chatting like they usually were. This concerned him. "Those two are always getting in trouble for talking to much. Something's up." He thought. He then opened a mind link with Ryo.

'Ryo, what's up? Something wrong?'
'I don't know. I think something is, but Katie won't tell me anything.'
'I see, well we can always tie her to a chair and torture her until she tells us.'
Ryo chuckled at that getting a puzzled look from Katie. She looked at him and then over at Rowen. She smirked and leaned back in her chair. Mumbling something about stupid vados and such
'I like that idea, Rowen. Ok, it’s settled then. We tie her to a chair and torture her until she tells us.'
'I'm glad that's settled. Now bored and what the Sensei is saying makes no sense.'
'You bored? That's a first.'
'Yea, yea live it up.'
'Sorry, it’s just that that's the first time I've ever heard you say you were actually bored.'
'Yea, well I think your sister’s more bored then I am.'
'Why do you say that?'
'Look at her.'
Ryo looked over at he to find her peacefully sleeping. She had her head on the desk and her arms around her head. Ryo smiled some and shook his head.
'I think you're right, Rowen. She is more bored than you.'
'See, what I tell ya?'
Ryo chuckled and leaned back in his seat. He looked over at his sister and smiled. She could be an angel when she wanted to be and a complete angel from hell when she wanted to too.
Class seemed to go on forever and then finally the bell rang signaling freedom. Ryo woke his sister and then helped her grab her stuff and walk to her locker. Katie was half asleep and groggily leaned on him while the walked. Ryo put her stuff in her locker and put the books and stuff she needed in her book bag. Shutting her locker door he found her fast asleep leaning against the lockers. He then turned to see the others walk up to them. Sage took one look at Katie and frowned.
"What's wrong with her?" He asked Ryo.
"Oh, she didn't get enough sleep last night." Ryo said as he looked over at his little sis.
Christine looked at him and bit her lip. She knew she should tell him, but she made a promise to Katie she wouldn't. Ryo then turned back to the guys and Christine.
"Keep an eye on her I have to go and put my stuff in my locker." Ryo said and took off at a sprint down the hall. Sage frowned and walked over to Katie. Shaking her gently he tried to wake her up. She lazily opened her tired eyes to look at him. Sage's frown deepened and he helped her stand up. Katie laid her head on his shoulder and let him put an arm around her waist.
Cye frowned and glanced over at Rowen. He could see that the blue hair Ronin was just as concerned as he was. He looked over at Sage and Katie to see that she had gone back to sleep. He furrowed his eyebrows in thought. Ryo came running back up to them with his book bag in one hand and his sister's in the other. He stopped and stared at his sister and Sage. She was fast asleep and Sage was frowning. He then looked over at Rowen, Cye, Kento and Christine. They all looked as concerned as he was.
"Ok, Sage you help her to the car. Christine you'll drive, the rest of you get moving." Ryo commanded sounding like a leader. Kento smirked and began to walk out the doors. Christine followed after him looking very excited. Rowen and Cye followed after them, walking through the doors and outside. Ryo slung his book bag over his shoulder and held Katie's in his other hand.
Sage smiled some and gently shook her. "Katie, come on wake up, we have to go to the car." He said. Katie groaned and rubbed her eyes. "Wha? Huh?" she said sleepily.
"Come on." He said as he slowly started to walk towards the door. He kept his arm protectively around her waist while he let her lean on him. He walked her over to the car where Ryo was waiting.
Christine got in the driver’s side as Sage helped Katie into the back seat. Katie instinctively curled up next to Ryo while he put an arm around her. He nodded to Sage showing everything was ok.
Sage reluctantly hopped in the passenger side while they all filed in. Starting the car she drove out. Unknown to everyone a pair of pale green eyes watched them as they left.
