Dark Clouds

Chapter 2

By Amazon

In Toyama.

Mia wiped the sleep from her eyes as she stared at the computer on her

desk. She had fallen asleep at the desk again. Ever since the guys had left

she had been up every night digging through her grandfathers information.

Mia yawned and stretched as she looked out the window, it was sunny and

there was a cool breeze blowing. Too nice a day to spend inside working.

Definitely too nice. A nice ride in the jeep to a park and a whole day

lazily walking the trails and a nice picnic lunch sounded appealing to her.

She would do it; she deserved a break. Mia got up from the desk and flung

open the doors to the porch. The breeze wafted in bringing with it the scent

of cherry blossoms and pine trees. She inhaled deeply, spring was her

favorite time of year.

It was also the time when she first met the ronins. Mia they

couldn't stick around here all their lives. They were going to leave anyway.

Now about that trip and picnic. With that she went out of the room and

started getting ready. Half an hour later she was ready. The picnic basket

was in the back along with a blanket. This is going to be great.

Issa, Mia's pet tiger, growled at the sky. His senses tingled with a warning

of coming danger in the Dynasty.

"What?! Where's our orbs?"

"We searched all over!"

"It's like they disappeared."

"Did you take them?!"

"I did no such thing!"

"QUIET!" The warlords stopped arguing and looked at Kayura.

Kayura felt as she was the only calm one in the room. She probably was.

"Maybe if you all shut up we can figure out where they went to."

The Warlords glared at her. They still didn't like taking orders, even

requests, from a 'little girl'. At least she had their attention. "Okay. Now

let's go over last night."

"What help will that do us?"

"Why don't you just be quiet for once, Sekhmet?" Kayura sighed.

Even though Talpa had been defeated and they weren't enemies anymore they

were still at each other’s throats.

"Now if we want to get our orbs back then we have to think about what we

were doing yesterday."

"We made rounds, ate dinner, had some free time, and went to bed." Dais

said matter-of-factly. Cale sneered but his sneer was quickly wiped off his

face when a Dynasty Soldier crashed through a wall.

"What the hell?!" Sekhmet leaped to his feet and nearly got his head

knocked off his shoulders by the demon. The warlords took their fighting

stances as several more demons appeared in the room. Great! They didn't have

their armors and now they had to fight. "Kayura! I thought you said that you

got rid of all of the Dynasty Soldiers!"

"I did! Someone must have brought them back." She slammed the Ancient's

staff into the chestplate of an attacking demon. The demon collapsed, dark

steam issued out of the wound. The warlords were having a hard time holding

their own. Bare fists and lamps didn't work as much as the Ancient's staff

did.

Cale grabbed a torch off the wall and rammed it into the eyes of one of the

demons. The demon seemed to falter for a second before returning the favor.

Sekhmet flipped his attacker into another demon, the first demon was speared

on the second ones sword. He snatched up the weapon of the first demon, a

spear, and took out the second one.

Dais, also, had been able to get his hands on a weapon, a sword, and was

slicing up his enemies. He noticed that Cale had been wounded and was

weaponless. He plowed his way over to Cale, getting rid of any soldier that

got in his way. When he finally reached Cale's side Cale was bleeding

profusely (that means a lot for those of you whom had never heard of that

word before) and he looked like he was going to faint. Dais chopped the

soldier that had wounded Cale in half.

Cale took up the soldiers' weapon, also a sword, and started helping Dais.

The wound in his side screamed in protest at the movement of his arm. Cale

ignored it and continued fighting. Kayura and Sekhmet had been pushed into a

corner and were surrounded on all sides. All of them were tiring; they didn'

t know how long they could keep this up without their armors.

A dark figure watched the battle with interest, four orbs floating in his

hand. They would die quickly even if they put up a good fight, then he would

take back his castle and resurrect all his Netherspirits and soldiers. The

only problem he had now was getting new warlords. Too bad he couldn't take

back his former warlords but they had been contaminated by good.

He needed people with evil in their souls. To do that he would have to go to

the Mortal World. There were plenty of people there to pick from, people

with corrupted, evil hearts and souls.

FLASH!

There was a flash of white-gold light and the warlords and Kayura

disappeared. Talpa smiled, it was easy to get rid of.unwanted 'pests'. Now

for resurrecting his soldiers and Netherspirits.

"Soldiers, gather up the evil spirits still left here and bind them to

armor." The soldiers ran off to do his bidding. Talpa set about resurrecting

his Netherspirits.

The Mortal Realm.

Mia sat back against the tree. This was exactly what she needed. She

drifted off to sleep under the tree. A circle of white-gold light appeared

in front of her, jolting her out of her nap. The warlords and Kayura

stumbled out of the portal. Dais helped Cale while Kayura and Sekhmet looked

on. Mia sat, pale and opening and closing her mouth like a fish.

"Konichii wa, Mia." Sekhmet knew that she would want an explanation why

they were here. "A group of Soldiers attacked us, we thought that we had

gotten rid of them all but we were wrong. Cale's wounded and we couldn't

stay in the Dynasty for obvious reasons so we came here." Sekhmet hesitantly

smiled. Mia looked from Kayura to Dais to Cale to Sekhmet with a look of

shock.

"You were attacked by Dynasty Soldiers?" To Sekhmets nod she immediately

took charge. "Kayura, will you please run and go get my first aid kit from

the jeep? Dais try and stop that bleeding until Kayura gets back. And you,

Sekhmet, I need you to go with Kayura and find my cell phone, bring it back

here."

Kayura and Sekhmet took off, running, for her jeep. Dais applied gentle

pressure to Cales wound as Mia had told him to. Mia looked around for

something sharp enough to cut cloth. She saw Dais's discarded sword lying on

the ground; he had dropped it when they had come through the portal. She

picked it up and went over to Cale.

"Dais, do you think you can cut the shirt were the wound is so we can get

to it?"

"Easily." Dais took the sword from Mia and was able to cut the shirt

without taking pressure off of the wound. Cale watched him nervously, he

knew Dais would never hurt him intentionally but he was still nervous. The

wound wasn't all that deep but it was bleeding. Kayura and Sekhmet returned

with the first aid kit and the cell phone. Mia took the phone and dialed 911

while opening the kit. She tried to bandage Cale's wound as best as she

could before the operator picked up the phone.

"Hello.yes, somebody went after my friend with a knife and he's hurt.his

name is Cale.we're at Sakura No Ki Park.don't move him, okay.yes he's

bleeding.I'm trying to bandage it as well as I can.we did that.ten

minutes?.sure.my name? Mia Coji. Red-brown hair, blue eyes. Yes. I'll be in

the parking lot. Thank you very much." Mia hit the end button on the cell

phone and put it down.

" Okay, she said not to move him and I'm sure you three can take care of

him while I wait for the ambulance." Dais, Kayura, and Sekhmet nodded and

sat down next to Cale. Kayura tied the bandages tighter and began to hum a

old song from when she was a child as Mia ran down the path to the parking

lot. Cale watched her go, he didn't like the idea of an ambulance, whatever

it was, coming.

Mia looked up from the magazine that she was looking at to look at the

doctor. The doctor stopped in front of the two warlords, Kayura and Mia.

"Your friend is all right." Everybody heaved a sigh. "We'll have to give

him stitches for his wound which we are preparing to do. He is a very

strange man, that Mr. Smith is."

Mia looked at the doctor in fake concern, trying to mask her smile. "What

do you mean?"

"He wouldn't let us give him the anthisetic for the stitches.and he acts

like a wild animal, scared of everything we come near him with." The doctor

shook her head in pity but smiled. "We'll let you know when he's out of

surgery."

Mia nodded and watched the doctor leave. The remaining warlords and Kayura

looked at Mia for an explanation. The Warlords and Kayura didn't know what

surgery or an anthisetic was. Mia took a deep breath, this was gonna be a

very long afternoon.

In Tokyo.

"Why can't we just go home now?" Kinjiro asked, he was getting pretty tired

of being pack animal for Amazon. Amazon threw him a glare as she went

through the rack of dresses. Kinjiro returned the glare, girls were so picky

and Amazon was no exception. She had tried on dozens of little black dresses

but they weren't the 'right' one. "Why don't you just pick one and buy it?"

Amazon looked at him as if he was suggesting that they wear signs that said

'We're criminals come arrest us'. "Because it's not the right dress. Oh,

look at that one!" Amazon ran over to another clothes rack, Kinjiro

following. She pulled out the dress she had spotted and scrutinized it for a

second. She turned to the 'pack animal' with a huge smile on her face. "This

ones the right one!"

"Oh wow, can it save the world, too?" He asked sarcastically. He shifted

the boxes he was carrying into a more comfortable position. "Why do you use

me as pack animal and not Seiji or Kenji?"

"Because Seiji is sending out his money and Kenji is always at the

bookstore, that's why." Amazon pulled him after her up to the cashier and

paid for the dress. "Okay now that I'm done we'll take this home and then

you can go and have your shopping spree."

Kinjiro's face lit up. "Yea!" The two left the store and started the long

walk home. They didn't notice the black figure on top of one of the

buildings. The figure laughed to itself before disappearing.
