chapter 4


"Cowards!" She yells out to nothing and turns around and goes back over to Ryo. "Come on, Ryo wake up." She said.

"Ahh my aching head." He opens his eyes and looks at Katie. "Good you’re safe." He smiles at her.

"Thank god you’re ok." She says and helps him stand up. "Come on we need to get you home and fast." Grabs her shoes and both head back to the car.

"I’ll drive Ryo where’s the keys?"

"Here!" Tosses Katie the keys and gets in the car.

"Thanks." Catches the keys and gets in the car. Starts the car and drives out of the parking lot towards Mia’s house.

The whole car ride home neither said anything. Then Katie pulled in to the drive way, parked the car and got out. She helped Ryo out and in to the house. "Hey guys a little help here please!" She shouted at them.

"Oh my gosh what happened?" Sai asked and helped Ryo to the couch.

"Some jerks showed up and gave us some trouble."

"Who were they?" She heard Rowen ask her. She turned around to look at him.

"I don’t know. They said their names were kayo and Shanz."

Sage came out of his room and down stairs. "What’s going on? Oh my god Ryo what happened?" He rushed over to the couch where Ryo was.

"I don’t know but I think Katie has some explaining to do." Ryo looks up at Katie and then everyone turned to look at her.

"I... ahh... I don’t know who they were." She stuttered and looked away from them trying her best not to cry. It wasn’t exactly a lie, she really didn’t know who the were.

"Katie something's going on, now what is it?" Her gaze met sage’s and she knew she was in trouble now.

"Nothing’s going on. I don’t know anything." Her voice starting to crack and she could feel tears start to well up in her eyes.

"Katie you’ve been acting very weird lately now what is it?" Sage put his hands on her shoulders and looked in to her eyes. "Your hiding something from us."

"I... I don’t..." She looked around the room at everyone’s stares and glares. She didn’t know what to say. She felt trapped and knew she had to make a quick exit. "I don’t know anything." And with that she turned around from them and ran up the stairs and in to her room. She locked the door and then threw her self on to her bed and began to cry.

"What am I gonna tell them? I can’t tell them the truth." She cried herself to sleep after about 20 minutes.

"She’s hiding something from us." Sage said and frowned. "Did they say anything?" He turns and looks at Ryo.

"Yah they said something like our-lord-sent-us-here-to-get-you-and-that’s-what-were-gonna-do or something like that." He sighed and put his head in his hands.

"Ohh so someone's after Katie. Well then that explains why she won’t tell us anything." Rowen said and looked concerned.

Katie was still in her room and all the Ronins, Mia, Raza, and White Blaze where all in the living room talking about what had happened.

"Yah it makes sense. She doesn’t want us to get hurt so she won’t tell us." Sai said in his British accent and looked at everyone.

"Yah that’s Katie for yah." Mia said.

Ryo sighs and looks up at Katie’s room. "I wish she would tell us something."

"Yea I know what ya mean Ryo, its not safe for Katie to keep this to herself and not tell us what’s going on." Rowen said as he looked over at Ryo.

"If I know Katie, she’s probably just not going to tell us cuz she wants to fight the creeps by herself. Ya know keep all the action and glory to herself." Kento said as he leaned back in his chair.

"I don’t think so Kento, she’s not like you. She may like to fight and all that like you, but she wouldn’t just not tell us because she wanted all the fighting and glory to herself. Its just not her style." Cye said with a frown.

later on in Katie’s room that night

"I have to talk to Keno but how?" She sat in her bed with her arms around her legs and her head on her knees. She had awakened about a half hour ago. Everyone but her was asleep. "I know I’ll go to the barn and call for him." She gets out of her bed and goes to her door. She unlocks it and quietly opens it. She then walks out of her room and down the stairs and outside.

She quickly but quietly walked towards the barn and then went inside. Once inside she shut the door and turned on the lights. "Keno, I need you." She said to the empty barn.

"You’re in a lot of trouble."

She turned around to see Keno standing behind her. "I know and don’t do that again."

"I’m sorry I won’t." He smiled an apology.

"What do you mean I’m in trouble?"

"Lord Darith is after you."

"Lord Darith?" She looks at him and gives him a confused look.

"Lord Darith is the one who sent those two after you."

"Ohh so he’s the one huh. Well remind me to thank him for the lovely evening." She said sarcastically and looked back at keno. "What am I gonna tell the guys?"

"You don’t tell them anything. It would only endanger them."

"Well that’s easier said then done."

"I know but you’re gonna have too. We have to start your training tomorrow morning so be sure to be here. I have to go but you know how to get a hold of me."

"Yah ok." With that he disappears. "Well I had better get some sleep." She leaves the barn making sure to turn off the lights and close the door. Then she makes her way back to the house and to her room. She lays down in her bed and falls asleep.

Somewhere else

Kaniesha sees Kayo and Shanz return looking like a train had just hit them and can’t help but smile. "What did I tell you two?"

"Shut up Kaniesha I don’t feel like listening to you right now!" Kayo shouted at her.

"OK whatever and Lord Darith wants to see both of you." She smiles and turns away from them.

"Ohh great now where in for it. Come on Shanz! They both disappear.

"She’s stronger than I thought she would be." Lord Darith sat at his throne gazing in to a mirror that gave him an image of Katie.

"You asked for us my lord." Kayo and Shanz had just now entered and were bowing in front of lord Darith.

"Yes I did. Do you know why I’ve summoned you both?" He said as he glares at them.

"Yes. We do."

"Good then I don’t have to explain it to you." Stands up and walks over to them. "I sent you out there to capture her and what do you do. You get your butts kicked and she gets away!" He yells at them. Kayo and Shanz shutter at the sound of his voice.

"She was too strong for us." Kayo replied and looked up.

"Yah she was nothing like we thought she’d be." Shanz now too looked up at him.

"Silence!" He yelled and kayo and Shanz backed away. He rubbed his temples and sat back down in his chair.

"My lord if I could only have one more chance to come up with a better plan then maybe I could prove my worth and capture her." Kayo said as he looked up at him. Lord Darith looked at him and smiled with amusement.

"Very well then Kayo I’ll give you a second chance. You and Shanz both have one more chance." Shanz and kayo both smile.

"You won’t regret this my lord." Kayo replied and turned to walk out of the thrown room.

"Ohh and one more thing kayo." Lord Darith yelled after him.

"Yes my lord."

"Don’t fail me or you’ll regret it."

"Yes my lord." And with that he turned and walked out of the thrown room.

"Hey kayo wait up!" Shanz shouted to him and ran after him.

Back with Katie

It was now morning and the Koji mansion was alive with the sounds of people talking and the smell of food cooking. Katie was still in her room and the guys had spent most of the morning trying to get her out of it, but each time she told them to get the hell away from her door and leave her alone.

"Ryo, why don’t you go and talk to her?" Rowen said with a look of concern on his face.

"Yeah breakfast is almost ready and she has to eat something." Cye said from the kitchen.

"OK, ok I will." He turned from the rest of the guys and walked up the stairs and towards Katie’s room. He knocks on the door and waits for her to shout something like get the hell away from my door or leave me alone or you’ll regret it. Nothing happened. He opened the door cautiously and went in. He saw Katie asleep on her bed. He smiled and walked over to her. She looked so beautiful when she was asleep. Ryo thought she looked like a beautiful angel.

He sat down next to her and gently put his hand on her face and brushed her hair back away from her face. He then bent down and kissed her gently on the lips. Katie opened one eye and looked at him. She then opened both of them and smiled at him.

"Does this mean you’re not mad at me?" She asked.

"How could I stay mad at you?" He smiled at her.

"I don’t know. She smiles at him. "Hey why did you come up here anyway. I know it wasn’t just to tell me you weren’t mad at me." She eyed him curiously.

"Ahh you’re right that’s not why. The guys and I would love it if you would come down stairs and eat breakfast with us. So what do you say?" He asks with a funny kind of a smile on his face.

She hesitated for a while and then looked at Ryo and said yes. Then they both left her room and went down stairs. She wrapped one arm around his waist and laid her head on his shoulder. Ryo smiled and wrapped an arm around her shoulder and held her close. They walked down the stairs and into the kitchen.

"Hello, Katie. How are you this morning?" She heard Cye ask her in British voice.

"Hey Cye. I’m fine." She said with a yawn and sat down at the table next to Rowen. Ryo sat down next to her and gave everyone a look that said don’t-ask-her-any-questions and then began eating.

"Good morning, Katie." Rowen said to her with a friendly smile on his face.
"Morning, Ro." Katie replied and smiled back. She then began to eat her food. As she ate she thought about how she was going to train with Keno and keep it a secret from the guys. She knew one thing and that was that she had to train with Keno no matter what.
