Sage of the Elves
Chapter 1: Beginning of Dreams
"He cannot stay here…it's too dangerous," a man's voice said.
"Are you sure there's no other way?" a woman's voice asked. She sounded like she was near to crying.
"We have to. He's our people's only hope. I already know a place for him. He will be safe and protected…from her…" The voices fade away.
Suddenly, new voices are heard. People screaming, weapons clashing.
An icy, cold voice cries out, "Don't let them get away! I want that child!" The familiar man's voice is heard again.
"Run! I'll hold them off the best I can! Take the child and hurry!"
"I love you!" the woman's voice sobs. Everything fades.
New voices again. "Don't worry. We'll take wonderful care of him. This is a real honor and blessing for us."
The woman's voice is heard again, exhausted and tired. "Thank you so much…I don't have much time…goodbye…my little Sage…I love you…someday, you will return…"
Sage woke up. He was soaked with sweat. "That dream, it was so real. But everything was so fuzzy, I couldn't make anything out," he thought to himself. He had been having dreams like this for the past four nights now, each revealing something more, but to what? "Maybe I'll talk to someone about it later. But it's probably nothing," he said. He looked out the window. It was Saturday morning. The sky was gray, and there was the sound of thunder in the distance. He looked at the clock next to his bed. 8:00a.m. Sai was already up helping Mia cook breakfast. Sage got up, took a shower, and got dressed. Simple blue jeans, and a green T-shirt. As he came out of the bathroom, Kento and Rowen were also coming out of the other bedroom.
"Yo, mornin' Sage!" Rowen said. "Morning," Sage smiled.
"Hey, race ya guys to the kitchen!" Kento cried. Kento had made it a Saturday morning tradition to race to the kitchen for breakfast. "On your marks, get set, GO!" they said together. Before Sage and Kento reached the fifth step, Rowen had flipped over the balcony and landed on the couch. "Looks like I'm gonna be the winner this time!" Rowen teased them.
"Aren't you forgetting someone?" a voice said.
Rowen turned to the source of the voice, but as he did, he was covered in a blanket. "Hey...!" he cried as he stumbled to the ground. Sage and Kento burst out laughing. When he finally got the blanket off, Ryo was grinning at him from the kitchen door. "Darn you, Ryo! Winner third week in a row!" Rowen laughed.
"And second time you've fallen for the old blanket trap," Ryo teased back.
Mia emerged from the kitchen. "Hey you guys. Get in here before the food gets cold that Sai and I worked hard to make." As Ryo led grace, Sage prayed these dreams would reveal their meaning soon, if they had any.
